AFPENC has an ongoing presence at the General Assembly, the State Board of Education, the State Retirement System, and the State Health Plan and lobbies actively for members’ priorities. We work with all lawmakers and policymakers who are interested in improving public education in North Carolina and supporting educators as professionals.

GET INVOLVED
There are three distinct ways that members can become involved with AFPENC's advocacy. As a member-driven organization and depends on our membership to steer our legislative priorities. Members are sent questionnaires each odd year to gain their insights as to the priorities that AFPENC should be advocating for to improve education in North Carolina. The next way a member can get involved is as an AFPENC Ambassador. AFPENC works to establish an ambassador at each school across the state as well as one district ambassador. Finally, becoming a part of the board of directors is always a fulfilling role as the board leads the organization and participates in many events throughout the state including the opportunity to meet with legislators to discuss AFPENC's Legislative Priorities.
