ADVOCACY

Interested in Improving Public Education?

POLICY AND LEGISLATIVE RESOURCES

AFPENC has an ongoing presence at the General Assembly, the State Board of Education, the State Retirement System, and the State Health Plan and lobbies actively for members’ priorities. We work with any and all lawmakers and policymakers who are interested in improving public education in North Carolina and supporting educators as professionals.

We will continue speaking with educators, parents and communities who serve our students in North Carolina to improve & update policy and legislative priorities throughout the state to focus on what our education stakeholders find most important.

Equally valuable to the unique insights of our community members across the state is their support of and engagement with AFPENC. We will continue to kindle North Carolinian’s support of AFPENC and our state’s public education system.

AFPENC LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES

GET INVOLVED

There are three distinct ways that members can become involved with AFPENC’s advocacy.  As a member-driven organization, we depend on our membership to steer our legislative priorities.  Members are sent questionnaires every odd year to gather their insights on the priorities AFPENC should advocate for to improve education in North Carolina.  The following way a member can get involved is as an AFPENC Ambassador. AFPENC works to establish an ambassador at each school across the state and one district ambassador.  Finally, serving on the board of directors is a fulfilling role, as the board leads the organization and participates in many events throughout the state, including the opportunity to meet with legislators to discuss AFPENC’s Legislative Priorities.  If you are interested in being considered for a board seat, please email afpencpresident@gmail.com for more information.
