Legislative Update: July 8th, 2024
Budget Update The Legislature still needs to reach a consensus regarding the 2024 Appropriations Act (Short Session Budget). As expected, they passed an adjournment resolution that scheduled upcoming events. The adjournment resolution specifies that the legislature can return to vote on a budget starting Tuesday, November 19th. Legislative Update: July 1st, 2024
Education Updates Summer 2024 Last week, the North Carolina House released a budget plan (adjustment to the biennium budget adopted in 2023) that would add a 1% average raise on top of the 3% average raise allocated for the second year in the previously adopted budget. As we have seen, the largest pay increases are being given to beginning teachers. They may make budget adjustments which is why the Governor has already submitted his proposal. Legislative leaders have yet to commit to any pay raises, but we will know more over the next few weeks.
