2024 End Of Year Legislative Update
End Of Year Update The North Carolina General Assembly met before Thanksgiving, and have completed their budgetary work for the short-session. In summary, their efforts were not traditional, and we would not call this a traditional short-session budget. Budget Recap Teacher pay and other funding issues for districts were not a part of the budget technical corrections bill they passed. SBOE Report: December 2024
December 3 – 5, 2024 The North Carolina State Board of Education met for its Bi-Annual Planning and Work Sessions on Tuesday, December 3rd, and Wednesday, December 4th. They then met for their Regular Meeting on Thursday, December 5th. The Planning and Work Sessions were slightly different from normal planning meetings because the SBOE was planning for the upcoming biennium. Legislative Update November 12, 2024 2024 NC Election Recap It was a late night for North Carolinians as the state’s polls closed at 7:30 p.m. last Tuesday. Many precincts did not finish reporting their ballots until early Wednesday morning. O verall, there is a new Democrat Governor, and the Republican-held Legislature did lose supermajorities.
