Exciting News! PENC is AFPENC!

I am pleased to share some exciting news about the future of our organization. The Professional Educators of North Carolina (PENC) has officially affiliated with the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) to become the American Federation of Professional Educators in North Carolina (AFPENC).

This new partnership marks a significant step forward in strengthening our collective voice and expanding the resources available to educators across our state. Through this affiliation, our members will now have access to a broader network of professional learning opportunities, national advocacy, and member benefits—all while continuing to uphold PENC’s long-standing commitment to professionalism, collaboration, and support for educators.

While our name will evolve, our core values remain unchanged. We are—and will continue to be—a member-driven organization dedicated to serving North Carolina educators with integrity, respect, and a focus on student success.

In the coming weeks, we will share more information about what this affiliation means for you, including new benefits, upcoming events, and how AFPENC will continue building upon the strong foundation PENC has established.
